A close and tightly knit Benedictine community of nuns, St. Emma’s Monastery practices the spirituality of Saint Benedict, an ancient Catholic spiritual path. Dedicated to living in simplicity and to engaging in constant prayer, the nuns follow the Rule of St. Benedict, which helps followers through obedience and by building and deepening followers’ relationships with Jesus Christ. The nuns at St. Emma’s follow the Liturgy of the Hours and perform Lectio Divina. Structured throughout the day and the night, the Liturgy of the Hours gathers the nuns to focus on sanctity and to worship Christ. In practicing Lectio Divina, the nuns read Scripture, meditate on the meaning of the words, and sit prayerfully in the presence of God.
