New Image Hair Clinic Charity Profile: Blackburn Center

New Image Hair Clinic is heavily involved in charitable causes in and around Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. In addition to animal rescue and food bank organizations, one of the chief charities that the business supports is Blackburn Center. Blackburn Center is an entity dedicated to supporting the victims of sexual and domestic abuse. The Center was founded to provide vital services to those in Westmoreland County who have suffered such violence. Today, Blackburn Center continues to offer completely free and confidential services to battered spouses, partners, and children while working to educate the local community and prevent further violence.

In the beginning, Blackburn Center was a group called Westmoreland Alliance Against Rape, the brainchild of a group of advocates from the National Organization of Women. The Alliance took its first call late in 1976. Since then, it has changed names to Blackburn Center and expanded its repertoire of services and information. Blackburn Center does not discriminate against male, female, adult, child, straight, or LBGT victims. The Center runs many programs, including a shelter, counseling services, and more. Among other forms of support, New Image Hair Clinic regularly donates teddy bears to Blackburn Center, to be given to the children of abused women.
